| The forty third annual Delaware
County Cross Country Championships were held on Saturday October 14,
2006 at Rose Tree Park, Media. Five hundred and ninety five runners from
twenty Delaware County high schools
registered for the event sponsored by the Delco Road Runners Club. Four hundred and fifty runners finished
the 3.1 mile course. The weather was perfect, mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid-sixties.
Strath Haven High School won the varsity
boys' race with 41 points. This was first championship for Strath Haven. Cardinal O'Hara High
School scored 62 points for second place and Haverford High
School was third with 62 points. The second place tie was broken by the sixth runner for O'Hara placing 21st. Haverford sixth runner was 33rd.
Radnor High School won the varsity girls' race for the second year in a row with 36 points.
Cardinal O'Hara High School was second with
80 points and Archbishop Prendergast High School was third with 117 points.
The Girls' Junior Varsity Team Award went to Cardinal O'Hara
High School with 27 points. The Boys' Junior
Varsity Team Award went to Haverford High School with a score of
39 points.
